About.
I was lucky enough to have been born in Bozeman, Montana, arguably the fly fishing capital of the world. My passion for being outside was born there. By a young age, I had logged a considerable number of days in a drift boat than most people do in their entire lives. But eventually it was time to leave my little home town and head for Seattle, where I studied commercial photography. I stayed there for a few more years, focusing on photography and eventually the rivers called me to Montana.
After a few summers of being a dirtbag fisherman and working at the local snowboard shop in the winters, an ad in the back of the paper caught my eye. “Land the job of a lifetime” with a photo of a guy holding a monster rainbow trout. Make money doing what I loved? I was sold. For the next dozen years I guided fly fishing in Alaska and Montana. I stayed busy in the off-seasons shooting photos. I shot for a few different fly fishing magazines, as well as multiple different high end builders and real estate companies.
In 2012, my wife and I purchased a fly shop in Minnesota and moved east, starting the next chapter of our lives. We’ve owned the shop for 13 years. In the last few years photography has drawn me back in, it was time to dust off my lenses and dive back in.
